National Trophy CX - Ipswich | Women

Rider comments

I'm really happy to have won in Ipswich, last year I had a terrible race here and wanted to come in to this positive about it as I knew the series was going to be either won or lost. I wanted to go out fast and take on the race to split it up as much as possible in the first lap and see who could come with me, I knew I had to beat Ffion for the series, so as soon as I had her gapped I had to go full gas. It was windy so as soon as gaps are made it's hard for them to come back. I had a good race with Anna, we worked really well together through out the race and kept pushing each other on, we never once sat up. In the last lap I was feeling strong and managed to get a small gap in the last half lap, from there it was head down to the finish line. It was icing on the cake to get another win and to wrap up my first National Trophy overall

I am a bit disappointed! I was hoping to have a good battle with Beth for the series title but I simply wasn't as fast as the other girls yesterday. I gave it my all but it was all I could do on the day. Even though I'm disappointed with my race yesterday, I'm very pleased with my season as a whole and I'm hoping I can finish it off well with a good ride at the champs this weekend.

The race started pretty fast but backed off on the start straight and bunched up. Instead of sitting in, I tried to just punch and break it up and ended up taking the lead, a few of us then got a gap quite quickly. About half way into the race it was me and Beth at the front and we were back and forth so much and were working well in the wind together to build on the gap. In the last half a lap Beth was able to pull away from me to take the win but with still winning the u23s and coming in 2nd elite I was definitely not disappointed !! It was such a fun and fast race and a brilliant way to end the series !!
